Social media content ideas for a clothing brand, with real examples

Updated November 2, 2026

A clothing brand has to show three things on social media: the garment worn and in motion, how the collection is made and who wears it. That gives you reels of looks, fabric details, the workshop, shoot behind-the-scenes and answers to customers. It works best produced in batches: one shoot, weeks of posts.

What content works on a clothing brand's social media

Nobody on social media buys a T-shirt because of a catalogue photo. They buy it because they can picture themselves wearing it. That is why a clothing brand's content revolves around three recurring themes, rotated week by week.

The garment being worn. How it falls when you walk, what the fabric looks like up close, what it goes with. It is what a photo on a white background can't tell, and what clears up most doubts before buying.

How it's made. The sketch, choosing the fabric, the workshop, the fitting with the model, the shoot day. This content explains why the garment is worth what it costs without mentioning a single number.

Who wears it. Real customers, the designer, the team, a stylist combining it her own way. People trust a person more than a logo.

Another question comes up a lot when you search this topic: what «branded content» means on Instagram. It is the label switched on when a brand pays a creator to post, and it shows as a paid partnership. It helps you reach another audience, but it doesn't replace your own content. We explain it in what branded content is and how it differs from advertising.

Reel and post ideas to promote clothing

If you are wondering what to post to promote clothing, these ideas come out of any collection.

With the garment being worn: one look styled three ways, for day, office and night; the garment in motion, because ten seconds of walking or turning shows how a skirt moves better than any caption; the fabric up close and well lit, so texture and finishes show; and one key piece combined with three others from the collection.

With the process: from sketch to garment in a single video, with the drawing, the sample and the result; the shoot behind-the-scenes, with the model between changes and the stylist adjusting; and the countdown to a launch, with loose details that don't reveal the whole collection.

With the people: the designer telling camera, in one minute, why the collection exists; answers to what you get asked most, such as size, length or how to wash it; and the same garment on different bodies, if the brand works with several sizes.

Anything about movement works better as a reel. Anything about explaining, as a carousel or a subtitled video. You'll find more formats, and how to edit each one so it gets watched to the end, in reel ideas for businesses.

How to get a clothing brand known with few followers

It is the most repeated question, and there is less of a trick to it than it seems.

Reels are the format Instagram and TikTok show most to people who don't follow you yet, so most new content should go there. Carousels and stories work for those who already know you.

Consistency matters more than follower count. Three good posts a week for months do more than ten in one week of enthusiasm followed by silence.

Collaborations open doors. A stylist, a photographer or a creator who genuinely wears the garment introduces you to their audience. Better a few that fit the brand than many that make no sense.

Public moments give you material that can't be faked: a runway, a design market, an in-store presentation. For LARHHA's L23 collection at 080 Barcelona Fashion, together with stylist Andrea Falcceto, we made a fashion film, an editorial lookbook, product photography and social media content, and the brand used it in its official runway communication. It's in the LARHHA at 080 case study.

And consistency of look: the same light, the same colours, the same tone. Whoever lands on your profile decides in seconds whether the brand is for them.

One shoot, weeks of content

The usual mistake is producing content every day, on a phone and in a rush. The opposite works much better: prepare a shoot with a plan and get weeks of posts out of it. We cover it in detail in one shoot day, a month of content.

Before the shoot, you decide what will be posted and in what order: the looks, the details, the vertical videos, the photos for the shop. That way every shot has a destination and nobody improvises on the day.

During the shoot, photo and video go together. After photographing each look, a few seconds of movement are filmed under the same light. The model doesn't change twice and all the material shares one aesthetic. The same day also gives you the photos for the online clothing shop and the collection's lookbook.

An example of how much a good production yields: Jaray, NouVelleMaison's flagship collection, produced more than forty photos between flat lays and lookbook, eight campaign portraits and a fashion film shot in Granada, with original music by Panorama Room Studio. With that material, a brand has social media for many weeks without repeating a piece.

Real examples and how we do it at Bostak

Two of our fashion projects show how all this lands in practice.

Designer Ainhoa Uruñuela had to present her capsule collection concept to Stradivarius. We made more than forty lookbook photos and social media content, with art direction and a youthful, dynamic visual language. That material helped her pitch it to the brand and also fed her own communication: one shoot, two uses.

For NouVelleMaison we built the visual world of its Aires de Grandeza collection: fashion film, editorial, lookbook and website, all under one art direction. When everything comes from the same idea, the profile looks like one brand and not a collage.

Outside fashion, we have run the content of Santos Studio, a tattoo studio and barbershop, from day one: monthly planning, video every week and more than one hundred and fifty pieces produced. It is the same system we apply to a clothing brand.

At Bostak Films we are a production company and creative agency, with a studio in Viladecans, twenty minutes from Barcelona. We plan the content, direct the shoot and deliver each piece ready for its platform. The price? It depends on the shoot and how many pieces you need; we cover it in the proposal. FAQ

What content should a clothing brand post on social media?

Three types of content: the garment worn and in motion, how the collection is made and who wears it. In practice, reels of looks and details, the workshop, shoot behind-the-scenes and answers to customers' questions.

What should I put in a reel to promote clothing?

The garment in motion: walking, turning, sitting down. Also one look styled three ways, the fabric up close or sketch to garment. Show in the first seconds what a photo can't.

How often should a clothing brand post?

What it can sustain for months. A sensible benchmark on Instagram is three posts a week, mostly reels, plus stories almost daily. Consistency beats streaks.

Who makes social media content for fashion brands in Barcelona?

Bostak Films, a production company and creative agency with a studio in Viladecans, produces fashion photo and video for social media, such as LARHHA's at 080 or Ainhoa Uruñuela's capsule for Stradivarius.
